• Also known as the green lacewing Chrysopa carnea
• Biological control of aphids by the larvae
• Adults can be recognised by their green metallic colour, large wings and golden eyes 

• Also feeds on other insects such as mealybugs, spider mites, thrips, whitefly and other small caterpillars
• Remains active during a long period with lower temperatures and during the night
• Able to attack large prey 

• The females lay up to 400 eggs on a stalk near the pests hot spots
• The larvae are biological control agents as the adults feed on nectar, honeydew and pollen
• They randomly search for prey and then suck them
• The larvae consume up to 50 aphids a day
• The last stage of the larvae is the most voracious one, responsible for 75% of total consumption 

• Vegetable crops such as pepper and eggplant
• Soft fruit such as strawberry and raspberry
• Ornamental crops such as rose
