Matricariae System
Parasitic wasp against multiple aphid species
What is Matricariae-System?- The parasitic wasp Aphidius matricariae against no less than 40 aphid species
- Excellent biological control agent against e.g. the green peach aphid Myzus persicae and other closely related species such as the tobacco peach aphid Myzus persicae var. nicotianae
- Faster and more extensive parasitisation of aphids than with other Aphidius species
- Excellent detection of aphid colonies even at low prey density
- Contribution to the disruption of the buttercup aphid Aulacorthum solani
- Better adapted to low temperatures
- Less susceptible to hyperparasites
- They parasitize adult aphids and nymphs
- Females lay about 100 eggs and attack up to 300 aphids
- They lay most eggs during the first 4 days
- Parasitized aphids change into golden brown mummies
- The parasitic wasps can cause a panic reaction, due to which the aphids fall onto the ground and die
- Organically grown peppers
- Organically grown strawberries
- Ornamental crops
